Welcome to Tobetravelz!

Thank you for taking the time to check out this new blog. I am very interested in transport oriented development - I believe it is what connects communities together. I would like this blog to cover the latest developments regarding local, national and international transport.

Who am I?

Hi everyone! My name is Tobey. I am a 22 year old enthusiast from Birmingham. After having studied Aerospace Engineering in university from 2019 - 2022 (and graduated in July 2022 with a Bachelor's degree), I assumed that I would continue my postgraduate studies in the same field. I took a gap year because I was aware of how expensive it would be to keep financially afloat (and therefore used the opportunity to find a job to earn some money). During this gap year (of which it is still ongoing as I write this post), I had no idea that I would decide to change my Master's degree. The thing is, I did not really know what I wanted to do - I only went the Aerospace route because I assumed that is what everyone else did. I applied for various postgraduate, aerospace degrees with a heavy heart because I had no idea what career path I wanted to take.

I have always been interested in transport - land or air but was always determined to go the 'air' route because of the connotations of being 'more prestigious' - how wrong I was. Being such an enthusiast for the Tube (on some days, I would ask my parents to take me to London just to ride the Tube when I was younger!), other metro (and public transportation) systems, it was in February of 2023 where I finally realised what I wanted to work in - public transport and infrastructure.

Fast forward to July 2023, I am now preparing for my postgraduate studies in Transport Planning and Engineering. I am very much looking forward to it!

Why did I create this website?

To cover the developments of public transport from an 'indirect' perspective. This website is from the perspective of an 'indirect' stakeholder. It depends how one defines stakeholders and how one classifies 'direct' and 'indirect' and, ultimately, you should be the ones to decide whether I am a direct/indirect stakeholder. No doubt, the public is a stakeholder in a transportation project but how much of the public is depends on where the development covers.

With the introduction done, enjoy reading!
